The church fund

This is an activity from the A215 Creative Writing Course that I’m doing with the OU. The idea is to write in the voice of a narrator who thinks of himself as deeply benevolent and charitable individual; but, through his description of another group he shows himself to also possesses a less charitable side (7.6 part 1).

Well, that’s the increase to the monthly DD, towards Save the Children, sorted out: a quick update online and all’s good. Thank God I didn’t have to speak to someone; I really don’t have the patience to listen to their crap; the last time I phoned up I got the impression that the girl was filing her nails as well as asking me questions. At least my good deed should put me in the good graces of God for a while. Talking of God, I’ve got a meeting tomorrow with the ‘church lot’ regarding the Xmas nativity play that needs to be arranged; I wish I could get out of it because they bore the living shit out of me with their pious behaviour and falsehood. Besides, they are always looking for me to reach into my wallet and donate towards the vicar’s personal wine collection err church renovation fund.
